What should I Expect from the classes?
We offer Taekwondo for kids from 5 to 14 years of age under the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF). Our program focuses on skills to increase your child’s physical coordination, balance, flexibility, and mental sharpness.
Discipline and Self Esteem
A core tenet in Taekwondo is the emphasis on moral development. Children learn respect for themselves and others. We employ drills and practices designed to heightened concentration, increase self-discipline, and increase self-restraint.
We aim to make the self discipline obtained from Taekwondo class be practiced and visible in other areas of the child’s life. School grades often improve as your child learns to focus on objectives and to work toward goals and achievements. The self-discipline and self-respect which Taekwondo develops can provide your child with the skills and mindset necessary to resist peer pressure.
We have our students engage in sparring regularly. New students are gradually introduced to live sparring at a comfortable pace. In sparring class students focus on techniques and drills to help them in point sparring competitions. Sparring provides students with a great physical workout and a way to functionalize techniques they practice in class. Our students wear the latest safety gear and are always supervised to provide a fun and safe sparring experience.
We provide our students with techniques designed to help them defend themselves when the need arrises. We also go over many non physical techniques to help our students avoid and de escalate situations when possible. The self defense part of our curriculum is designed to make our students more aware of their surroundings and how to generally act in a way to help them live in the safest way possible.
